of the Rim Road (FR300) and FR139.

We followed a trail across several draws with lush meadows and several spring-fed
streams that attracts all kinds of wildlife.

We hiked parallel to another fire road (3738X) and headed north towards East Bear
Canyon about a mile before turning east to cross the road.

We descend another draw and hike next to a preservation
area before climbing up to Dick Hart Ridge.

We traveled parallel to the East Bear Canyon for 1½ miles as it dropped
away from the trail.

We dropped into Houston Draw and followed a water course until it emerged after
about ½ mile. We traveled ¾ mile next to 2 preservation areas and
arrived at Aspen Springs.

We arrived at our destination: the Cabin and Springs at Aspen Springs.

We rested and explored the spring and cabin that still stand and
returned by the same route.
On the return trip Michael took a short cut down the fire road while Debbie and Rod
speed-hiked the last 3½ miles to the truck and went to pick him up.
