At a reasonable morning hour, seven club members met for an urban exercise hike on South Mountain. Starting from the alternative Holbert Trailhead on S. 7th Street, we walked a short distance up a paved water tank service road to the Holbert Trail.

The trail climbs steadily to a junction going to Dobbins Lookout, which four hikers took to enjoy expansive views of the city.

The group reunited and continued hiking up the Holbert Trail, which climbs 1,014 feet in two miles.

The trail passes among the majestic saguaros.

Eventually we came to the junction with the National trail, where we pulled up a rock to enjoy a break and snacks before heading back the way we came.
