On a beautiful, crisp morning, five motivated hikers ventured out for a Christmas Eve workout. The desert was happily green from previous rainfall, and deep purple flowers speckled the landscape. The cactuses looked healthy and plump as well.

The trail passes many vacated mines and shared a few challenging ascents and descents as we hiked. The western ridge is steep and gives beckoning views of the Estrellas and distant mountains, and the rock formations are absolutely breathtaking!

We decided to climb Goat Hill and enjoy a break to admire the scenery around us, adding a little more adventure and mileage. We hiked clockwise, utilizing the Bursera, National and Pyramid trails.
It was an invigorating hike that always promises an awesome conditioning workout, with the benefits of endless vistas and desert beauty. Overall, we travelled 11 miles, 2413 feet AEG, having a really nice time! Thank you all who joined me to celebrate our holiday weekend on the trails!
