We started this adventure from Home Depot at 5:00 AM. Shuttled over to the old Mining
Camp Restaurant, that burned down in 2017. Our hike began there at 5:45 AM, still dark
at this time. There was enough light to hike without head lamps.
We made our first stop at the Bowl of Siphon Draw. From the Bowl the trail climbs up
rapidly. Before we started up we took our first group picture. Before long we all made it
up the top. It felt good to have Siphon Draw out of the way.

We took a short break there and a few more pictures. Starting hiking the Ridgeline, only
my second time and the first for a few of our group. The Ridgeline has many great views,
and I was also very surprised to see so much plant life next to the trail.

We were trying to make it to the 5057 Peak known as Superstition Peak for lunch. The
day was very hot, so we needed to stop more than normal. We made it to the Upper
Hieroglyphics Trailhead somewhere around 11:30.
From there it climbs up again after the long downhill route. We made it to the Corkscrew,
were we ate lunch. I think we needed it at this point, with the heat over 90°.
Everyone seemed to enjoy this break a lot.

After our lunch we headed through the Corkscrew towards the 5057 Peak. We finally
reached the Peak. It was easier this time because Irek took us a slightly different route
that didn’t express fear. We all enjoyed the views of the peak. From there I told
everyone it’s 90% downhill from there. It was mostly downhill from there, but
that didn’t make it any easier.

We reached the point of the trail at Boulder Creek. It was dry at this time. We took
another break at this point before Boulder Saddle, upper Carney Springs Trail. From
there I called Scott Green to pick us up at the Carney Springs Trailhead.

We scrambled down the very steep trail, still very hot but somehow it was in the shade,
I took credit for the shade. Scott met up with us shortly before we made it to the
trailhead with a gallon of ICE COLD WATER. This was a treat!

We finally finished, and Scott drove all of us back to Home Depot. We all started to
come back to life in the air conditioned vehicle. When we reached our cars, a few of us
walked across the street to Oregano’s. The food was great and so was the
company.

This was a very strong group that hiked 12.7 miles with 4500 elevation gain.
