Trailblazers checking out the Massacre Grounds in the Superstitions.
Michael, Nancy, Diane, Terry.

Four hearty trailblazers met and drove to the Jacob Crosscut parking lot on an early Saturday and easily found a parking spot at 8am, but the lot was full when we got back. The weather was mild and we quickly shed layers as we proceeded on the Massacre Grounds Trail. We admired the green Superstitions and thought that later there will be a super bloom. The Massacre Grounds is named after the Peralta family servents that lost their lives to the Apaches. The Peralta family was safe in Mexico. The Peraltas were warned by the Apaches to leave their rocks alone, but the Peraltas wanted to get the gold ore to Mexico. The Mexicans had muskets and the Apaches had bow and arrows. The thing is for every shot by the Mexicans, the Apaches could get 10 arrows in the air. The Mexicans lost badly. The Apaches had the dead mules for dinner and then left. So the start of the lost gold story is the Peralta mules that lived rubbed off thier packs where every and left gold ore. Arizona had just becuse USA territory, so Mexico could not send search parties into USA territory.

We then walked over to the Massacre Falls. It had water flowing over the top. With the mist from the water falls, this area is cooler. There is a small pond at the bottom of the falls. The sun was starting to show, so it was time to see if the flowers would show.
