We began at 6:08 am with six hikers gathered in the parking lot; we met up with our seventh hiker at the trailhead just to the east of where we parked. We started up the trail traveling south. The day was already warm at 76° but there was a light breeze and a bit of cloud cover. We stopped for a group picture and introductions at the first large boulder to use as a backdrop. At each juncture I checked on how everyone was enjoying the trail and coping with the day.

This group was out for the fresh air, exercise, camaraderie, and views. Plenty of birds and lizards along the way; saguaros in abundant and extravagant bloom.

We hiked for a bit over 3 hours with short stops for gazing at the city or snacks in deeply shaded spots. The trail itself is in good repair. An enjoyable trail, but traffic was audible on Happy Valley Rd when we were at the farthest points south on our route.
