Trailblazers at Nuraghe Losa. [photo by Steve]

16 Trailblazers (including some spouses) ventured to the distant land of Sardinia for a week of hiking and cultural experiences. Some arrived a day or two early and were able to watch the Sant Efisio Day parade though the streets of Cagliari. The weather was mostly perfect for the duration of the trip with some rain (and hail) on the 1st day, but not much after that. 6 hikes were completed along with stops at multiple archeological sites, a dinner with a shepherd, winery tour and tasting, a sunset cruise and much good food and drink.
Day 0: A few early arrivers, Lin, Li, Mike, Terri, and Monika, were able to walk around Cagliari and see some sights and then enjoy the Sant’Efisio day parade before our hiking tour began.
Day 1: Our guides, Simone and Leonella, picked us up in Cagliari with two vans. We proceeded to Nuraghe Losa and Santa Cristina on the way to our first three nights at Agriturismo Canales. An agriturismo is an Italian thing, a working farm turned into a BnB.
Day 2: Our 1st hike the next day was to Monte Tiscali to see the Nuragic Village ruins and get some great views of Valle di Lanaitto.
Day 3: Hike to Cala Luna
Day 4 - 9: On the next report

We lost track of the photo authors so we will list them here:
Lin, Li, Leonella, Peggy, Jan, Tamar and Deirdre.

The Nuraghe is the main type of ancient megalithic edifice found in Sardinia, Italy, developed during the Nuragic Age between 1900 and 730 BC. Today it has come to be the symbol of Sardinia and its distinctive culture known as the Nuragic civilization.

Hike to Tiscali Nuragic village ruins. The Nuragic village of Tiscali, is located within a large collapsed cave in Monte Tiscali. It consists of dwellings of various sizes, built and inhabited between the 15th and 8th centuries BC. Their origins are mysterious: the building technique is different from those of other Nuragic sites. It was probably inhabited in pre-Nuragic ages. What we do know is that it was repopulated between the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, and inhabited for a very long time, perhaps up to the High Middle-Ages.
