Eleven hikers showed up on a cloudy Saturday morning with temperatures in the low 70’s.
Approximately 1 mile into the hike, hikers came across a large herd of sheep that were being guarded by several hard
working and friendly white Labrador Retrievers. At the 3-mile junction a left turn was made into the forest where
several large ponderosa pines and puddles of water were encountered because of recent rains. The group moved past log
clearings along abandoned logging roads before arriving at the edge of Willow Springs Canyon. The hikers ate lunch as
several ominous storms clouds came into view. A light refreshing sprinkle of rain greeted the hikers along with several
loud frog-croaking noises. A small green AZ Tree frog was spotted hiding by a large rock outcropping. The hikers waved a
final fare well to the grazing sheep that were now somewhat soaked and arrived at the car.
Dinner was eaten at Mackys Grill on a windy porch outside.
