Trailblazers are ready to kayak Willow Springs.
|
We camped and enjoyed the cooler Mogollon Rim temperatures with Canyon Tree Frogs
croaking serenading us during our campfire. Luckily rain stayed away from campground
until Monday night.
Lovely day in the 70's while kayaking in Willow Springs Lake, with a slight breeze
to cool us off. Winds started picking up as headed toward the boatramp, with storms
building in the afternoon sky.
Lake was decently busy for a summer Monday, with small fishing boats, paddleboards
and kayaks abundant.
Many families were fishing and picnicking from shore of whole lake.
Trip highlights:
*Family of young ducks turned around and started following Normas kayak.
*Ash pulled bright yellow fishing lure from the lake looked like an octopus.
*Stellar Blue Jay circled our lunch spot under shade trees but didn't score any food.
*Osprey continually diving for fish came up empty in front of us.
*Saw Snowy Egret, Blue Heron, and a large hawk with head on shivel atop tree over
looking the lake.

Clouds over Willow Springs.
