We began our trek at 8:45 AM at the Crosscut Trail off of First
Water Road. It was a perfect day to enjoy the Arizona outdoors.
The desert was alive with various shades of green from recent rains
and the cactus were plump with moisture.
Once we entered the park, we started an invigorating climb up the
Treasure Loop trail for about a mile.
After rounding the Green Boulder at the top, we took a short break,
then started our descent down Prospector’s View.
Looking closely, one could see glimpses of the Mexican gold poppies
and the Coulter’s lupine. By next month, these hills will
be covered with the brilliant wildflowers.
We turned north at Jacob’s Crosscut Trail and headed back to
our vehicles.
Total hiking distance was between three and four miles.
It took the group about 2½ hours.

We had worked up quite an appetite, so those that could headed over
to the Goldfield Ghost Town’s annual Chili Cook-off for lunch.
It was hard to tell why the town was named a ghost town – it
was packed with tourists and locals alike.
We were fortunate to secure a table on the shaded patio; live music
by Arizona local, Lee Alexander coupled with lunch and dancing, and
a stunning view of the Superstitions completed a delightful day.
