Snow on the upper reaches of the Bright Angel Trail.
We took the Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point and back in a day hike. Due to the length of the trail (12 miles RT), we stayed the night before in Flagstaff and started off early Saturday.

This hike has an elevation change of
-+3000' over 6 miles. We used the several rest stops along the way, including the Indian Garden campground.

There are great vantage points of the river from Plateau Point. This is probably about as close as you can get without camping, rafting, or killing yourself going down and up.
