We all met at the Blue Point Trailhead off the Bush Highway on the morning of a
lovely, sunny day. After some discussion, we decided to hike in around 4 miles
from there and return the same way, since the hike leader was not sure at that
time where the trail ended, and, in the interest of time, a car shuttle was
avoided. We headed south and followed the trail description Ted Tenny had
written for his new book, Goldfield Mountain Hikes. It was a clear
description and informative.

We started out with a view of Four Peaks to the left, and we then passed many
impressive rock formations of Precambrian granite which is 1.8 billion years
old, topped by ash spewed out by the Superstition Mountain volcanoes about 20
million years ago.

Upon meeting the first forest service road to the right, we
met a caravan of 4-wheelers.
We proceeded after they had passed and wound around
into a shady spot, where we took a break. When Joe’s GPS indicated that we
had done 4.4 miles, we stopped for lunch. We continued back along the same
route, admiring the scenery from a different viewpoint. It was a lovely day and
a fun hike.
