We approach the Hat Top Hill on FR 1356, with Four Peaks in the background.

Picnic on the top of the world—Hat Top, anyway.

From the top: northeast view of the Four Peaks, Peak 2881,
and Golden Ridge 2246.

Ted finds the Palo Verde Arch.
It was one of those days when everything goes right!
15 people turned out for my Hat Top Hill hike, although only 8 had signed up for it.
The weather was sunny and pleasantly cool.
I got them to the top of the hill and then to the Palo Verde Arch on our way down.
Hat Top Hill is a bright golden formation of Tertiary rhyolite in the southern
Goldfields, wearing a hat at a jaunty angle.
We got there on FR 1356, a primitive road through the ranching country.
The hill itself is off trail, so I took them bushwhacking to a pass north of the hat.
