This is a beautiful hike in the pine trees, northeast of Payson,
near Christopher Creek.

It starts near the campground and fish hatchery and runs along
Horton Creek. There are many places where the trail is right next
to the creek, if one takes the dirt trail where it is present
instead of the rocky, knee-unfriendly jeep road.

The creek flows year-round from a natural springs at the top
of the trail and gushes and gurgles over moss-covered rocks.
There are meadows and places with a large profusion of butterflies,
as well as maples and other deciduous trees.
This is a truly lovely hike and is highly recommended.
