the hike Enjoy this pleasant local hike featuring:
  • Native American ruins.
  • Petroglyphs thousands of years old.
  • The remains of a notorious 1960's restaurant.
  • Two summits with awesome views of the entire Valley.
all within the city of Phoenix and all by 1:00 PM. What could be more convenient than that?
    Bring snacks but not lunch. For those interested, there are several interesting and nearby places to go after the hike.
    Required:
  • Sturdy hiking boots
  • At least 3 liters of water
  • Rain poncho
  • Hat, sunblock, sunglasses

weather Phoenix
meet 8:00 AM in the parking lot of the North Mountain Visitor Center (map) located on west side of 7th Street about a quarter of a mile south of Thunderbird Road in Phoenix. There are restrooms at the visitor center. If you have not toured the center, it is worth a few minutes to view the beautiful photos of wildlife and other exhibits.
