where	Mogollon Rim
the hike	Beat the heat! Enjoy a cool walk in the woods and along the edge of the Mogollon Rim. The Rim Lakes Vista Trail has many outstanding overlooks. The Meadow Trail and the General Crook Trail parallel roads.     Those preferring a longer hike can do the eastern part of the Rim Lakes Vista Trail and continue on the Meadow Loop.     The historic General Crook Trail is marked with yellow chevrons tacked to some of the trees, and the re-routed General Crook Trail is marked with white chevrons. Once you cross the road, you sometimes can’t see the next marked tree. Just keep going in the same direction and remember that the trail is never far from the the road.     The eastern part of the Rim Lakes Vista Trail has been re-routed so it doesn’t go near the communications tower or the road leading to it. The trail now takes an easterly route and connects with the original trail farther north.

meet	8:00 AM at the Rim Top Trailhead. Note: We are not starting from Rim Top Trailhead, just meeting there.
drive	•  Take the Beeline Highway (Arizona 87) north to Payson. • Turn right and go east on Arizona 260. • Drive east 29 miles, past Kohls Ranch to the top of the Mogollon Rim. • Take the first left turn, on FR 300 toward Woods Canyon Lake. • Go west a quarter mile to Rim Top Trailhead, where we’ll meet.
