Our hike starts at milepost 307.5 on the AZ Trail where East Happy Camp Road
crosses Whitford Canyon Creek. We proceed downstream to Barnett Camp near milepost
305.5. Here we will take some time to explore the ruin of an old building, a mini-slot canyon
known as The Crack, and then search a nearby hill for a cave with a metate. We retrace our
route back to our vehicles. Happy Camp Road, aka FR 650, should be suitable for most vehicles.
A few of us explored this area this area on May 23, 2026 when we jeeped in.
Lunch afterwards for those interested at the Silver King in Superior.
