where Goldfield Mountains
the hike     This is a 5.3 mile hike with a 1100 ft gain. You go up a hill, down and around, up again, then down for the last leg. No pun intended. Interval training. It is a rocky and slippery loop but the views are worth it. It could take 4 hours, maybe 4.5 with a break. It depends on the sure footedness of the group. Bring plenty of water, hat, good boots, sun screen, and sticks if you prefer. Leader is wearing long pants. Snake sightings. You will be glad you did this hike though. It is truly beautiful.
The Peak 3004 Loop is described on pages 25-26 of Goldfield Mountain Hikes by Ted Tenny, with a map on page 154.
