the hike |
This is a 5.3 mile hike with a 1100 ft gain. You go up a hill, down and around, up
again, then down for the last leg. No pun intended. Interval training. It is a rocky
and slippery loop but the views are worth it. It could take 4 hours, maybe 4.5 with
a break. It depends on the sure footedness of the group. Bring plenty of water, hat,
good boots, sun screen, and sticks if you prefer. Leader is wearing long pants.
Snake sightings. You will be glad you did this hike though. It is truly beautiful.

From the north take the 101 S. to 202 east, you will see and pass the BassPro Shops,
go several miles passing Power Rd. Then take Brown Rd exit, traffic circle around to
the left and continue east. Pass Crimson, Signal Butte, turn left (North) on N. Meridian
Rd. You will pass Meridian Trail Access, keep going. Go to the end. Plenty of free parking
at this trailhead. No bathrooms.

From the south take 101 N. to 202 east then see above. |

If you are in Chandler or Gilbert take the 202 loop around the east side of the valley
and head north to Brown Rd. exit. Make a right / east. Pass Crimson, Signal Butte,
turn left (North) on N. Meridian Rd. You will pass Meridian Trail Access, keep going.
Go to the end. Plenty of free parking at this trailhead. No bathrooms.

Hwy 60 east to the 202 North will take you to Brown Rd exit too. Make a right / east.
Pass Crimson, Signal Butte, turn left (North) on N. Meridian Rd. You will pass Meridian
Trail Axxess, keep going. Go to the end. Plenty of free parking at this trailhead. No
