Corral Loop Day Hike

the hike     This hike was described by Mare Czinar in a recent issue of The Arizona Republic.
    From the trailhead, hike 1.5 miles north on Brown’s Ranch Road to the junction with Corral Loop. We turn right here at CL1 and hike for 0.7 miles to CL2, a 1-mile round trip side trail to Cathedral Rock at CM6. Make a right turn here.
    Backtrack to CL2, make another right turn, and continue hiking the Corral Loop all the way around to CL6, where it rejoins Brown’s Ranch Road. The Corral Loop is 2.5 miles total. Turn left at CL6 and continue hiking Brown’s Ranch Road back to the trailhead.
    Next, continue hiking Brown’s Mountain Trail for another 0.7 miles to BT1, where we rejoin Brown’s Ranch Road. Make a right turn here and continue hiking south for another 0.6 miles back to the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead.
    This hike offers many great views of classic Sonoran Desert plant life and scenery, including Brown’s Mountain, Cone Mountain, and Cholla Mountain, as well as an opportunity to view some interesting historic ruins of Brown’s Ranch, once a thriving 44,000 acre cattle ranch operation in the middle of the Sonoran Desert.

meet 8:00 AM at Brown’s Ranch Trailhead, 30301 N. Alma School Parkway, Scottsdale.
drive
•  From Loop 101 in Scottsdale, take Exit 36, Pima Road/Princess.
Drive 6.5 miles north on Pima Road to Dynamite Road.
Turn right on Dynamite Road and drive 2.7 miles east to Alma School Parkway.
Turn left on Alma School and drive 1.0 mile to the trailhead. Watch the speedbumps.
There are restrooms and drinking water at the trailhead.
