We partnered with the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests Black Mesa Ranger District
to clean up a section of the General Crook Trail #140 between Rim Top Trailhead and
Carr Lake Trailhead.
During our inaugural event, we discovered the tread (trail) east of the Woods Canyon
Lake access road (FR 105) was either washed away or covered with new growth.
We worked with a Forest Service to blaze a new path (ridges along naturally occurring
ditches, berms around water sinks, paths around downed trees) marking with plastic
ribbons, trail markers and flags.
On 6/28/2022, 14 hikers rendezvoused at the Mogollon Campsite. We distributed
gloves and trash bags and traveled north across the Rim Road (FR300) and
intersected the General Crook Trail.
