Box Canyon to Martinez Mine Day Hike

Our hike consisted of thirteen hikers. After following a meandering wash, we started hiking at the narrows of Box Canyon. We branched off into an unnamed canyon entering from the east. This canyon narrowed to a slot in several places; fortunately, we encountered no running water. Surprisingly, someone has placed wooden ladders at two of the more difficult spots.

A large boulder tangle lay at the end of the canyon. Most of us went over the top on the left side, one person found a way through.

As we had not encountered too many ATVs, we decided to return by Box Canyon. The road through Box Canyon has improved considerably since 2013, as you can see from these pictures:
