| the hike |
A review of the past trip reports indicates that the club did this hike in
February 2007, before my time. I want to lead it again. The Beverly
Canyon Trailhead is located south of Baseline Road on 46th Street.
There is a restroom available. We will hike in basically a figure 8 pattern
going west on the Javalina Canyon Trail to the Mormon Loop Trail to the
National Trail and then back east through Hidden Valley with Fat Man’s
Pass and a natural tunnel and a butt scoot.
We will return via the Ridgeline Trail and Beverly Canyon Trail.
This is one of four ways to get to Hidden Valley. The others are from the 24th
Street trailhead via the Mormon Trail (shortest but steepest climb), from the
Buena Vista trailhead via the National Trail, or from the Pima Canyon Trailhead
that is west of 48th Street, south of the Beverly Canyon Trailhead.
The route I plan is the longest hike to Hidden Valley but the grade is more
gentle than the Mormon Trail.
